On 29th April, Become HK was pleased to sponsor the award evening to celebrate the young PR professionals competition 2014 run by the Council of Public Relations Firms of Hong Kong (CPRFHK)
The team from BecomeHK attended the event, held upstairs at Shelter Lounge, Sheung Wan. The venue was great (food and wine excellent) and the event was well-attended with c.70+ PR people - from seasoned professionals (the judges and speakers) to the majority being competition participants and their supporters.
The evening kicked off with a Q&A hosted by Simon Mellalieu (CPRFHK Vice Chairman) and panelists were subjected to a series of questions about their careers and how they got where they are today. Needles to say none had studied communications related degrees!
The panelists were very forthcoming and came with a great range of industry experience: Treena Nairne, People and Engagement Communications Leader at Ernst & Young; Diana Tsui, Head of CSR and Diversity at KPMG China/CEO of KPMG Foundation; Lorna Lennon, Crisis Communications Specialist and Founder of Bailiwick and Tony Wong, General Manager of PR Asia. FYI, Treena’s job turned out to be the one that most attendees wanted when it came to the vote.
Entrants had been asked to submit an integrated PR plan to promote a fictional Street Art Events Festival in HK. The submissions were judged by an independent team and celebrating this year’s title of ‘Young Professionals Winner’ was Valerie Sun from FleishmanHillard. She was excited to win and has a particular interest in street art so an easy subject for her to get excited about.
Congrats Valerie! We are sure this is just the start of great things for your career.
